What do you think of when someone mentions “MLM” or “multilevel marketing” or “network marketing”? All of these are basically interchangeable names for a particularly powerful home based business model. Your reaction depends on experiences you’ve had and stories you’ve been told.

Many people, when asked about MLM, immediately think of one of the industry giants – Amway. While Amway in and of itself was a good company with a pioneering opportunity, it got a bad reputation due to secretive and questionable recruiting practices that were used by some of the independent distributor organizations. This often led people to believe it was little more than a scam.

Were you ever:

- presented with an invitation to attend a meeting about some wonderful MLM business, but when you asked a simple question like the name of the company, could not get an answer?

- invited to a presentation, and if you pressed were told only that the company was “Jones and Associates” or something like that?

- treated like an ignorant child if you asked any serious, probing questions about the opportunity?

- attended a MLM business opportunity meeting and been almost to the end before the “A” word was mentioned?

There is a reason that distributors have taken this approach. They were coached with a system that taught them not to reveal the name of the opportunity before the meeting, because the prospect might have some misconception that would stop them from coming.

The kickback to this approach was that it made this opportunity, and MLM as a business model, look very questionable.

Let’s move forward and consider how things are today. It has never been an easy thing for most people to get prospects to a MLM opportunity meeting. This is another reason the curiosity approach was developed. However, in today’s world, people are busier than ever and don’t respond to that approach like they once did.

There is a great opportunity here. As people get busier and more consumed by life, they seek legitimate home income opportunities to give them extra luxuries, or perhaps an escape from a demanding job. More and more and going online to find home businesses that they can start for reasonable investment. This means good things for you.

Is it possible that MLM would be an ideal opportunity for you? Consider these things.

- are you a people person who enjoys being around and helping others?

- would you feel comfortable talking to business opportunity seekers who come to you for details about your business?

- are you strongly motivated to build a serious home based income?

- are you willing to learn what you need to know, and be coachable?

If you feel good and can see yourself doing these things, you might be an excellent fit for MLM and all the benefits it offers. Take a better look and learn what it takes to pick the right company, products, and make your business a success.

One Comment to “MLM – Is Multilevel Marketing a Good Work from Home Alternative for You?”

  1. Dan says:

The problems that you discuss occur all too often at MLM meetings. That is why I always investigate any kind of work from home opportunity online. I always check the Better Business Bureau website, as well as look at reviews of the opportunity written by those who have experience with it. Adequate research is always the best way to make sure any money making program is legitimate.
